19th May 1967: The Beatles celebrate the completion of their new album, 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', at a press conference held at the west London home of their manager Brian Epstein. The LP is released on June 1st.

The Beatles-themed film Yesterday opens this Friday (June 28.)

For those not familiar with the premise of Yesterday, the film centers on struggling singer-songwriter Jack Malik (Himesh Patel). After a weird blackout that affects the entire world, Jack wakes up to realize that, somehow, everyone on the face of the Earth has forgotten about the Beatles and their music…except for him! Jack then starts performing these songs, and obviously, becomes an overnight sensation.

With the film’s plot, ranking twenty of the best Beatles covers seemed like the perfect way to celebrate the new film.

So, what’s the criteria when determining the best Beatles covers? Like with any cover, these things are taken into consideration:

-Does the cover stick close to the original or does it change up the arrangement?
-Does the cover measure up to or even surpass the original?
-Does the cover feature an outstanding vocal and/or instrumental performance?

With that in mind, here are twenty of the best Beatles covers ranked.
