The holidays at Winterthur
Liz Farrell, Communications Manager at Winterthur discussed the former du Pont home, now a museum renowned for its landscape and decorative arts collection and scholarly library. She spoke about its history and how the final occupant, Henry du Pont, organized the conversion of the property to a museum to hold his vast collections of early American furniture and crafts, she discussed his influence on the Jacqueline Kennedy decoration of the White House and his influence on the antique world. The holiday offerings at Winterthur was also discussed, Yuletide at Winterthur offers special exhibits, holiday decorations and events running through November and December, as well as the current exhibit, Treasures on Trial on forgery. Finally, information about annual fundraising events, including Point-to-Point and other workshops and lectures.
