Executive Director Joshua Matticks and Jennifer Jensen, Communications Officer for the Delaware Office of Veterans Services discussed their office and the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, working to provide assistance to Delaware’s veterans, their spouses and dependent children. From emergency grants that can help with rent or utilities, to working with the state legislature to make Delaware more Vet friendly for employment and residency issues.    We discussed the networking programming, now expanded to include Hidden Heroes, Hire Heroes, K9 Companions and more, to offer opportunities between agencies and employers to help vets make Delaware their home after discharge.  Josh noted the need for Vets in the Delaware job market and discussed the programs other states have implemented to make their areas even more Vet friendly and desirable.   We also discussed the Wreathes Across America project, coming up short in fundng for this year.
