Developmental Disabilities Council Executive Director, Kristin Harvey, discussed the office, charged with overseeoing and coordinating services that enhance the abitilities and rights of persons with developmental disabilities and their families.
She discussed the challenges they face, the resources available through the many organizations reporting to and working with their office. She also spoke on the finalicial burden faced by families and the education and job descrimination that keeps them at a disadvantage in housing and social interaction. Ms Harvey also spoke on the current studies on the connection between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease and the impact of COVID-19 on individuals with disabilities with the loss of direct and personal services.
