Chris Locke, founder of the SL21, the Unlocke The Light Foundation and Sean’s House, inspired by the legacy of his late son, Sean, who died by suicide in 2018. Opened this past October, Sean’s House is a 24 hour safe refuge where youth between 14 and 24 can come and sit, do homework or talk to a peer about thier feelings. Sean, an engaging star athlete hid his depression well, but Chris offers tips to parents wondering if their children are suffering, look for changes in mood, in sleeping, in eating habits and activities. He wants everyone to know, it’s okay to talk about it, to ask how your children are doing and to look for help. Sean’s House, located at 136 W Main Street in Newark, DE offers free resources and respit for with peers available for both the young person and the parents struggling to do the right thing. Sean’s House is for any youth struggling with a mental health issue, from self-harm, depression, eating disorders, or just worried about their feelings into words.
