Major Tim Sheehan, Coordinator for the state discussed the Salvation Army Delaware and its mission, to serve those who need. We talked about their ongoing programing through COVID, keeping Daycare open for essential workers, sheltering dozens of families in housing, delivering food baskets and offering counseling and job training through the generosity of donors and volunteers. He notes that now the need is turing toward rent and utilities and job support as the pandemic restrictions lift. He spoke on the annual Bell campaign’s switch to ‘Rescue Christmas’ to raise funds online to provide holiday food and gifts. We also discussed the Salvation Army’s work with victims of human trafficing and how it fits with the founding of the organization. Major Sheehan tellls about Restoration Now and its ‘trauma informaed’ approach to helping victims regain trust, self-identity and confidence to rebuilld their lives.
