From the American Cancer Society, Director for Development Jason Plaia, Senior Development Manager and Making Strides DE manager, Gina Maciejeski, Senior Development Manager and Pink Manager, Megan Kutzner, and radiologist Dr Tim Dambro, ACS Leadership Council Member and Men Wear Pink Ambassador, discussed this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Men Wear Pink. We talked about the work of the ACS in research, advocacy and direct patient services, funded by these annual campaigns. They spoke of the ongoing concern of health care disparity and their work in getting more opportunities for prevention, screenings and treatment. We talked about the greater occurrence and differing outcomes for all cancers based on racial and economic factors. Finally, the direct services they offer, including the Hope Lodge residential facility and Road To Recovery volunteer driven transportation between home and treatment.

We talked about the current Making Strides campaign, fundraisers and events leading up to the Making Strides Walks. All are encouraged to sign up to walk, volunteer or to donate to a team or individual. As part of the annual fundraiser Dr Tim spoke on Men Wear Pink, a campaign he’s supported for years, he challenges men to step and wear pink every day in October and to raise at least $2,500 for the cause.
