Denni Ferrara. Founder and President, discussed the non-profit which raises funds for research into blood cancer; she discussed how she and family were affected by a diagnosis of leukemia in her 3-year old daughter, and how an earlier fundraising project led her to found the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware. To date, they have granted $3,000,000 in research funds to The Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorder, (NCCBD) collaborative national leader in childhood cancer research, hoping to make vital discoveries that lead to a better understanding of blood cancers, their treatments, and the effects on the patient.
Denni also discussed the fundraising events they host throughout the year, including the Mud Runs for kids and adults, their annual golf outing and the Annual Black Tie Gala, this year entitled Havana Nights, at Deerfield on March 2nd.
