Jim Gardner’s Last Radio Interview On WJBR was with Deanna and Justin..
Jim retired from 6ABC and boy were we thrilled when he agreed to speak with us.
Aside from the bragging rights that his last radio interview before retirement is with US, we are just honored to chat with him.
Jim has been such a legend in this community and a household name for decades.
Our parents watched him on the news long before we were a twinkle in their eyes. We grew up as kids watching him as our parents cooked dinner.
We’ve known his face and his name for so long, it was surreal to speak to him on such a personal level.
Alas, we mustered up the courage to ask our questions and do it justice. We hope we did, at least!
Deanna and Justin brought in personal memories and anecdotes told by their parents as they riffed with Jim. The interview felt more like a conversation with a friend or for D&J, their favorite uncle.
Jim Gardner is not only humble, but he is just as lovable as you would imagine him to be. He is warm, kind and down to earth. A total pro on the phone the same way he is in front of the camera.
Deanna and Justin did ask Jim what he plans to do with his retirement and the response was more relatable than you’d imagine.
We wish Jim all the best in his retirement. Cheers to many more years of living your life and loving Philadelphia sports.
Thank you for always being there, for being a constant in our lives.
