Historic Odessa Foundation Executive Director Debbie Buxson described the COVID safe yule season activities scheduled for the historic properties, including outdoor light displays, candlelight walking tours, a silent auction, a holiday resale shop, fire pits and greenery displays at the National Historic Landmark Corbit-Sharp House, the Tavern, the Stone Barn, National Historic Register Wilson Warner House, and the muskrat skinning shack, to name a few. She gave us the town history, once a wealthy and busy port, to its sleepy forgotten years after the railroad took away its shipping. She spoke about the family history and the saving of the historic properties, around some of the most stunning and architecturally significant buildings in the State of Delaware. She notes that it is also on the National Parks Path to Freedom list as a stop for at least one escaping slave. She invites us to visit the watershed for hiking and nature watching and talked about the preservation and conservation work. historicodessa.org
