Kate Dupont Phillips, Executive Director of Healthy Communities Delaware, discussed how healthy places lead to better outcomes in health for families and individuals living there. A collaboration between the Delaware Division of Public Health, the Delaware Community Foundation and University of Delaware Partnership for Healthy Communities, they work with the communities themselves to find solutions for their needs, including food and housing equity, jobs and economic parity. From green spaces and sidewalks, to transportation to jobs, education and healthcare, they look to make the changes that can lead to improving the social determinates that can mean the difference of 20 years in life expectancy from one county to another.
