and its services were discussed by deputy Director Laura Graham and Advocacy Director, John Whitelaw, on a limited budget the agency represents residents in cases of housing and SNAP benefits, domestic abuse, disabilities, elder law and immigration. They spoke on how they work with area housing departments to ‘test’ tenant rights; their joint programs with in-home social workers and how they train ‘lay’ advocates within social services agencies to recognize and flag illegal or discriminating practices; we also discuss the lack of representation in civil cases that can cause a family to lose benefits and property and the need for legal intervention in these cases. They also touched on their partnership with Delaware Volunteer Services and their joint fundraising efforts at delawareccj.org.
