Melissa Nicely, Child Life Manager, Child Life, Creative Arts Therapy, and School Programs at Nemours/Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children discussed the programming that help support their patients’ mental health during hospitalization or treatment. Ms Nicely discussed how their staff of therapists and case managers offer programming that help kides feel like kids during their time with Nemours Hospital for Children, programs including play, ‘camp’ activities, preparation for medical procedures and surgeries, teaching children and families about new diagnoses like cystic fibrosis or diabetes and even helping families with memory making when a child is dying.
