Caroline Jones, President and Founder of Kind to Kids Foundation, discussed the non-profit ‘s work with foster children during the pandemic.
Created by Ms Jones and her children, K2K has offered emotional outreach, comfort and educational support to over 15,000 children within the foster care system. Their program reassures children that there are caring adults in their lives, helps them maintain a sense of stability and offer programming to give them the skills and resources to get an education. They also offer programming for low-income children and teens in at-risk situations.
We also discussed the success of their UGrad education program, helping students at high-risk of dropping out to graduation. Kind to Kids relies on great partnerships and their volunteer pool to continue their work; area theaters and sports teams and museums provide opportunities for foster children to enjoy cultural and entertainments just like their friends and classmates, volunteers fund raise, do office work and fill the signature Blue Backpacks offered to children in crisis by caseworkers, emergency responders and hospitals.
