3 Thoughts We Had While Watching Lucy Hale’s ‘F— Marry Kill’ Trailer
In case you missed it, Lucy Hale’s new thriller F*** Marry Kill dropped recently. This fresh take on the classic game plunges viewers into a dark and twisted world of deadly choices and how we should be more careful when we “swipe right.”
The trailer is fun to watch (you can watch it here, it’s a bit NSFW) and after watching and rewatching it, here are our thoughts.
The Serial Killer in F— Marry Kill Is None Of the 3 Guys
Who is the serial killer in F— Marry Kill? This is the question that’s in everyone’s mind, if they are eagerly waiting for the movie (*raises hand*). This action-comedy thriller follows Eva Vaugh, played by Hale, who is dating three men; she suspects that one of them is a serial killer, based on the evidence brought to light by a murder podcast she listens to, Mark My Murder.
Kyle (Jedidiah Goodacre) – The “marriage material” but enjoys a bottle of Rosé.
Mitch (Brendan Morgan) – The “f— material” who somehow doesn’t have fingerprints
Norman (Samer Salem) – The “kill material” who’s taking night classes studying forensics
After watching enough slasher films, we’re calling it: the serial killer is none of the three guys, or they’re all in on it together, that’s got “plot twist” written all over it. Although, if you look closely at the movie’s poster, Virginia Gardner’s photo is almost as prominent as Hale while the other characters (Brooke Nevin, Bethany Brown and JayR Tinaco) are all sized the same, including the three guys. She might be the killer because she’s been burned by love before and is holding a grudge against people who use dating apps and serial daters. It’s the perfect motive.
Lucy Hale Can’t Go Undercover
How did the three guys not know Hale’s investigating them? Every time one of the “suspects” ticks a box on the podcast’s description, you can see Hale’s wheels turning as she pieces things together. Her friends are also deeply involved in the investigation, joining her in following the guys around, except Gardner who’s only showing a little bit of interest (so as not to arouse suspicion?)
The Supporting Characters are Legit Voices of Logic
How many slasher or thriller films have you watched where the characters seem to be doing an illogical thing? There’s a serial killer on the loose, they forgot to lock the basement window, and now there’s a strange noise coming from down there. So, what do they do? Instead of running to the nearest police station, they head straight down to investigate with only a baseball bat for a weapon.
However, in F— Marry Kill Hale’s friends kept telling her to not go on the dating app because of the “serial killing s— that’s been happening” and that “any of these guys could legit be swipe right and kill you.”
Of course, Hale went on and did the illogical thing: date all three guys. Find out what happens for yourself: F— Marry Kill will be in select theaters and on VOD/digital on December 6.
