Olivia Munn & John Mulaney Marry in Private Ceremony
Olivia Munn and John Mulaney were recently married in a private ceremony.
People confirmed the nuptials and noted the couple got married at a friend’s home in New York state. Reportedly, only a witness and the couple’s two-year-old son, Malcolm, were present.
People detailed Munn and Mulaney’s relationship timeline, with the outlet initially reporting they were a couple in May 2021. In September, Mulaney revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers that he and Munn were expecting.
Malcolm was born in November 2021. Mulaney shared his first photo of his son on Christmas Eve 2021. He captioned the photo, “Meet Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn’t even tried seltzer yet. I’m very in love with him and his whole deal. Happy Holidays.”
Munn’s Breast Cancer Battle
While Munn and Mulaney have been enjoying being parents to young Malcolm, Munn was also privately battling breast cancer. In March, she revealed her diagnosis via Instagram.
Munn wrote in the caption of the post, “I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey.”
She shared more about her diagnosis in slides in her Instagram post. Munn wrote, in part, “In February of 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test that checks you for 90 different cancer genes. I tested negative for all, including BRCA (the most well-known breast cancer gene). My sister Sara had just tested negative as well. We called each other and high-fived over the phone. That same winter I also had a normal mammogram. Two months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
Munn further noted, “In the past ten months, I’ve had four surgeries. So many days spent in bed I can’t even count and learned more about cancer, cancer treatment and hormones than I could ever have imagined. Surprisingly, I only cried twice. I guess I felt like there was time to cry. My focus narrowed, and I tabled any emotions that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clearheaded.”
Among the surgeries Munn had was a double mastectomy, which was a 10-hour surgery. The mastectomy happened after it was discovered Munn had Luminal B, an aggressive form of cancer, in both breasts.
Munn thanked her friends and family “for loving me through this.” She specifically thanked Mulaney “for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect.” Munn wrote Mulaney also made sure to put framed photos of Malcolm at her hospital bedside “so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
