Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera, Deputy Mayor Joseph Franco Jr., and Board of Education President Toni D. Fuscellaro have officially submitted their bid for office. The trio is running under a campaign theme of "Leadership for Tomorrow's Wildwood Crest" as they head into Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
According to The Cape May County Herald, the campaign presents the team as experienced local leaders promising transparency, progress, and continuity for Wildwood Crest's future.
The candidates bring a mix of experience:
- Cabrera has served as mayor for the last eight years, overseeing major road, flood, facility, and recreation projects.
- Franco has directed fiscal leadership, obtained better credit ratings for the borough, managed technology infrastructure upgrades, and secured more than $125,000 in grants for departmental improvements.
- Fuscellaro has had a long legal career, serving on the Board of Education's leadership since 2016. She has also continually advocated for students and families.
The team has outlined several ambitious goals for the next four years in Wildwood Crest:
- Expanding bike paths, adding oceanfront connections, designating bike lanes, improving lighting, and enforcing e-bike and scooter safety rules
- Implementing stormwater defenses such as pump stations, reinforced bulkheads, expanded piping, and flood-prevention enhancements
- Protecting beach access from reduced width or access
- Providing ADA-compliant improvements at Crest Pier and Von Savage Pool restrooms
- Supporting the community's volunteer fire company
- Updating Municipal Hall and the police headquarters
- Upgrading New Jersey Avenue and Park Boulevard, while continuing side street paving and improving traffic flow and safety
