The camping-in-the-great-outdoors experience has a new look. Eight state parks in Pennsylvania are now new places for camping luxe style.
The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has unveiled a series of new glamping tents that members of the public can reserve online for next spring.
Glamping combines the classic camping experience with modern features. The glamping sites offered at the following state parks will feature extensive inside-the-tent amenities in safari-style tents, including two queen beds, a mini-fridge, coffee maker, seating, and lighting, with weatherproofed exteriors and planned future heating and air conditioning:
- Codorus (York County)
- French Creek (Berks County)
- Hickory Run (Carbon County)
- Hills Creek (Tioga County)
- Laurel Hill (Somerset County)
- Poe Valley (Centre County)
- Promised Land (Pike County)
- Pymatuning (Crawford County)
These glamping experiences are being made possible by Timberline Glamping Co. and its founders, Nathan and Rebeka Self, who launched the company in Georgia. They have since expanded to multiple states. The Pennsylvania project is their northernmost and largest installation, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Officials say glamping complements existing park offerings — tents, RV sites, yurts, rustic and modern cabins — and aligns with the state's strategy to broaden overnight options and attract outdoor enthusiasts to Pennsylvania.
