DK Metcalf Puts a Ring on It: NFL Star & Normani Are Engaged

Love is in the air, and the NFL’s very own DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf just made it official! On Thursday, March 13, the star athlete announced that he and singer Normani are engaged—nearly two years after first making their relationship Instagram-official back in July 2023.

Metcalf dropped the big news while chatting with reporters after his recent trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Turns out, he planned the whole thing with family at the heart of it.

"My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister's Spring Break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring," Metcalf shared, revealing that he popped the question just the day before, on March 12.

And, in true NFL fashion, he made sure Normani showed off the prize. "Hold that rock up, baby," he told her during the interview.

The football star also confirmed that Normani will be right by his side as he settles in with his new team. In a video posted online, he proudly called her his "beautiful fiancée."

Metcalf revealed that he had been planning to propose since last year, but their schedules kept getting in the way. He wanted to find a moment where timing wasn’t a problem. So, how did he finally ask? With a sweet and creative move:

"I started sending her flowers with a story, and then the last letter on the flower was 'Will you marry?' And she said yes."

Their love story started back in 2020 when they were introduced by none other than power couple Ciara and Russell Wilson—who, of course, have already sent their congratulations according to PEOPLE.

Last June, Normani gushed about her relationship in Rolling Stone, saying, "I am very happy. Definitely an answered prayer... I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where that’s reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do."
