The hit show Abbott Elementary is heading back to Philadelphia. Filming kicks off Thursday, February 27 and ends Sunday, March 1, marking the second time the show has shot in its home city.

When casting directors put out a call for local kids ages 6 to 14, the turnout was huge. "We had over 3,000 kids sign up in one day," Quinta Brunson told PhillyVoice.

Usually, the cast of Abbott Elementary films at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. They grab outside shots at Vermont Elementary in LA. The exact Philly locations for filming remain secret. So keep your eyes peeled for your favorite Abbott teachers, like Ms. Schemmenti and Mrs. Howard.

During their last visit to Philly, they filmed scenes at the Franklin Institute for Season 2's finale. These local spots bring genuine city authenticity to each episode of Abbott Elementary.

In the past, the series has highlighted 6ABC, its famous theme song, and legendary news anchor Jim Gardner. Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, and Brandon Graham of the Philadelphia Eagles, along with actor Bradley Cooper, have all made cameo appearances on the series. Brunson has said that she hopes to work the Eagles' Super Bowl journey into next season's storyline. These local touches help Philly viewers connect with the show.

Since hitting ABC in December 2021, critics have been loving it. The show picked up Emmy awards for both writing and acting and has been picked up for a 5th season.

By blending studio filming with real city locations, the show keeps its Philly spirit genuine. The brief three-day shoot creates the perfect mix of Hollywood polish and hometown authenticity.
