Sprouts Opens New Store in Delaware, Teams Up with Food Bank to Help 155,000 Families
A new Sprouts Farmers Market in Delaware welcomed customers in Middletown. The store joined forces with The Food Bank of Delaware to help fight hunger.
This partnership has helped feed 155,000 families in need. “When you can give somebody broccoli or asparagus, or lettuce, it’s a whole different ballgame,” said Ed from The Food Bank of Delaware to CBS News Philadelphia.
Inside, customers can find bulk bins stocked with fresh ingredients they can scoop out themselves. Local farms, like Fifer Orchards, keep the produce section filled with fresh-picked fruits and vegetables.
The chain has grown to 23 states with 380 stores. The move into Delaware with a second store shows their push to grow bigger in northeastern states.
From plant-based to gluten-free options, the store offers food for different diets. Fresh wild-caught fish and grass-fed meats fill the well-stocked coolers.
People lined up for opening day treats and events. In the background, careful storage and product rotation helps reduce food waste.
This partnership with the food bank goes beyond Delaware, showing how stores can make a difference in their communities.
Sprouts has an additional location on 202 in Wilmington.
