New Delaware Laws for 2025
It’s time for a new year, and that bring brand new laws for the state of Delaware. It’s always a smart idea to be aware of new laws going into effect on January 1, because these laws could directly impact you and your life. So, let’s get into some new Delaware laws going into effect in 2025, so you know what to expect in the coming months and new year. This year, there are two new laws that are significant, so study up on these changes below.
New Delaware Laws Starting in 2025
Paid Leave
Because of a new law, some employees will be able to get up to 80% of their wages to cover care for a new child or family member with serious health conditions, a serious personal health condition or injury or assisting while family members are overseas for military deployment.
“It’s a win-win for employees who need support during a health or family event, and for employers who want to attract and retain top-quality personnel,” the Delaware Government states. “Most businesses with 10 or more employees are required to participate.”
They add that Delaware Paid Leave gives paid leave to workers “who have been employed for at least one year and at least 1,250 hours with a single employer.”
Abortion Insurance
Abortions and with related health care will be covered by insurance beginning January 1, 2025, for Medicaid and January 1, 2026, for the majority of private and state-regulated insurance plans.
According to the bill, which was first introduced on April 11, 24, “all health benefit plans delivered or issued for Medicaid to cover services related to the termination of pregnancy.” The bill adds that, “coverage provided under this section is not subject to any deductible, coinsurance, copayment, or any other cost-sharing requirement and must cover the full scope of services permissible under the law.” The new law also adds a definition of “religious employer,” which is defined in the bill.
There just some of the new laws and language changing in the Nevada Constitution starting in 2025, too. While you’re getting in that last bit of Christmas cheer, listening to Christmas songs and thinking of New Year’s Eve things to do, think about these new laws that will go into effect in 2025. Also, it’s worth noting that for state laws, each state has different methods for approving laws. One commonality, though, is that many states have their new laws go into effect on January 1 of a new year. Some state and federal laws also go into effect on July 1, because that makes the halfway point between the year.
