Delaware’s Best Sandwich Is Right Here In Wilmington
Delaware’s Best Sandwich Is Right Here In Wilmington
Merriam Webster defines a sandwich as two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between. This of course opens up the topic about whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich, but we will save that for another time.
The folks over at Cheapism.com wanted to find the best sandwich in each state, and Washington DC. So, they went on an epic sandwich road trip to determine just that. It turns out for those of us in Wilmington, we won’t have to travel far at all to find Delaware’s Best Sandwich. It’s none other than, Capriotti’s on Silverside.
Here’s what Cheapism.com had to say about this famous Delaware sandwich shop. What began as a small shop in Wilmington’s Little Italy opened by siblings Lois and Alan Margolet in 1976 and named for their grandfather, Capriotti’s has grown into a popular nationwide chain. For the signature sandwich, The Bobbie — named for the siblings’ aunt — the shop slow roasts whole turkeys and serves the meat, hand-shredded, on a fresh roll with cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mayo — essentially the perfect combo of Thanksgiving leftovers, but available year-round. The medium sub is a thankfully low $12.49.
Here in Delaware we are all very familiar with Capriotti’s! Love to see it getting some recognition for being so darn delicious.

30 Of Dave Portnoy’s Favorite Pizza Joints Closest To Delaware
Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and famed pizza reviewer, has been to plenty of pizza shops in our area over the last few years.
His online pizza reviews called ‘One Bite Pizza Reviews‘ have added to his Barstool fame. He rates pizzas from around the US on a scale of one to 10. One bite, everyone knows the rules.
Part of his criteria is how much grease it has or “the flop”, and he’s always looking for a well-done “undercarriage.” His favorite style is Neapolitan with no toppings, only cheese. His ratings are brutally honest and don’t always make for the happiest local owners. If you’re in the 7 range, consider yourself to have a good pie.
While Portnoy has yet to visit any local spots here in Delaware, he has been to quite a few locations pretty close by, in Philadelphia and neighboring suburbs. Each of his reviews is recorded by his pal Frankie or another Barstool friend, and posted on his many social media pages.
We’ve found 30 of the locations closest to Wilmington and listed them below, along with Dave’s rating and video review.
We love this guy. We’ve got to get him to Delaware. To do that, we need pizza reviews on Portnoy’s app, One Bite.
