The Top 10 Toppings We Like On Our Pizza In Delaware

In October, we are not only celebrating the start of the spooky season, we are celebrating one of the most popular foods in the country...pizza!

October is National Pizza Month, according to PizzaToday.com. Pizza Today’s founder Gerry Durnell created the National Pizza Month observance in 1984 to mark the debut of the first issue of Pizza Today magazine. In 1987, U.S. Congress officially designated the month of October as National Pizza Month.  Thanks!

With this is mind, let's take a look at what the folks in Delaware think about pizza.

I recently came across a fun study conducted by Casinos.com  They went on a search to find out which toppings were most popular amongst residents of each state.  To do this, they used the monthly Google trends for 15 of the most popular pizza toppings in America on a state-by-state basis, to reveal the most popular in each state, including Delaware.

The most popular topping nationwide shouldn't come as a surprise.  You guessed it...pepperoni, followed by bacon, sausage, peppers and mushrooms.

Who cares about the rest of the country?  Kidding lol

Here are the top 10 most popular toppings we put on our pizza in Delaware.

Do you agree?  I've got to be honest, I am happy to see that we don't like Pineapples on our pizza.  I am of the belief they just don't belong but I know that's not always a popular opinion.

30 Of Dave Portnoy's Favorite Pizza Joints Closest To Delaware

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and famed pizza reviewer, has been to plenty of pizza shops in our area over the last few years.

His online pizza reviews called 'One Bite Pizza Reviews' have added to his Barstool fame.  He rates pizzas from around the US on a scale of one to 10.  One bite, everyone knows the rules.

Part of his criteria is how much grease it has or "the flop", and he's always looking for a well-done "undercarriage." His favorite style is Neapolitan with no toppings, only cheese. His ratings are brutally honest and don't always make for the happiest local owners.  If you're in the 7 range, consider yourself to have a good pie.

While Portnoy has yet to visit any local spots here in Delaware, he has been to quite a few locations pretty close by, in Philadelphia and neighboring suburbs.   Each of his reviews is recorded by his pal Frankie or another Barstool friend, and posted on his many social media pages.
