Sure, when people talk about the “best” quarterback in the NFL, the name Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs usually comes out in the conversation. But, the Philadelphia Eagles have a shining star in quarterback Jalen Hurts. Now, Hurts has landed one of the most coveted honors in sports.

Hurts has been chosen to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual NFL Preview Issue. “Jalen Hurts has a master plan to bring Philadelphia another Lombardi Trophy,” the magazine said in a tweet showing off the newly released cover image. In the photo, the Eagles quarterback is wearing a white T-shirt, his “Lucky Green” Air Jordan 1’s and a big smile.
The cover story tells the tale of Hurts getting his Master’s Degree and follows him through his ceremony at the University of Oklahoma in 2023. How many star NFL quarterbacks keep continuing their education like that? It’s very impressive. The article even includes an interview with Hurts’ mom. The article also calls him the “New Fresh Prince.”
“Few superstars decide to finish their educational pursuits while acclimating to the NFL,” Sports Illustrated explains. “Fewer still are quarterbacks on the cusp of careers that now project far beyond the wildest of pre-draft expectations.” But, Hurts is not your average guy. We’re lucky to have him with the Eagles. I can’t wait for this season. The Eagles are really the team to beat, and with Hurts at the helm, that’ll be hard for any team we come up against. The Eagles will start the 2023 regular season on the road going up against the New England Patriots. That game is schedule for Sunday, Sept. 10. The game will mark the first time that they’re started the season against the Patriots.
