One Smyrna Restaurant Is Among The Best Roadside Restaurants In The US
Smyrna is home to one of the Best Roadside Restaurants in the US. And so is Chadds Ford, just across the state line.
It’s inevitable that you’re going to get hungry on a road trip, especially when going from state to state. Sure, buying snacks for your trip is one of the best parts, but sometimes you need to stop and have a meal when the snacks just aren’t cutting it.
Typically, you might pull over for a quick run through a drive thru for a greasy burger and fries, but other times you might want to get out of the car, stretch, and relax while you enjoy a little break with some decent food.
Seriously, some of the best chicken fingers I have ever had came from a rest stop on Alligator Alley in South Florida. And anyone who’s seen “Diners Drive-Ins & Dives” knows Guy Fieri has made his fair share of stops at roadside restaurants across the country.
Lucky for us here in the First State one of the best roadside restaurants in the US is right here in Delaware.
And not too many of the others are far off the beaten path if we’re making a road trip down south.
So, what is this must try roadside restaurant in Delaware? It’s none other than Helen’s Sausage House in Smyrna. And lucky for the folks in Newark, Helen’s is opening a second location at 145 E. Main Street this fall.

The restaurant in Chadds Ford we teased you about is Hank’s Place. A quaint, cottagelike diner dishing up American comfort food, from omelets to spanakopita.
