There's obviously so much buzz and hype going into the new NFL season. The Eagles, I believe, are the team to beat. Now, ESPN has released a list of its power rankings for the NFL teams in 2023, and they have the Eagles in an interesting spot. Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl, again?

First of all, the defending Super Bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs, are the No. 1 team in ESPN's Football Power Index rankings for the new season. That's no a surprise. Many experts are projecting that the Chiefs will get to the Big Game again.

What's interesting, though, is that their model actually views the Philadelphia Eagles, who lost to the Chiefs in the title game earlier this year, as the Super Bowl favorite. "It's a result of the vast difference in quality between the NFL's two conferences: The AFC is loaded with talent, while the NFC appears to have only a few contenders, paving the way for Philly," they explain.

Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl?

So, their numbers have the Eagles as the No. 1 favorites to win the Super Bowl. Their chance is 14%. Right behind them is the Chiefs at 13%. However, the article point out that, "the Eagles are the favorites at just 14% is an indication that this season is a little more wide open than most. FPI has made preseason predictions going back to 2015, and 14% is the second lowest for a favorite we've had in that time period."

If you're wondering who rounds out the top five, it's the 49ers at No. 3, the Bills at No. 4 and the Bengals at No. 5. I would actually have flipped No. 4 and 5, but that's just me. Either way, it's exciting to see the Eagles getting this kind of buzz and respect in the league. Find the full ranking here. By the way, ESPN also ranked Jalen Hurts at the No. 6 best quarterback in the league in their recent ranking.
