Small Delaware Town Makes List Of 60 Most Charming US Towns To Visit
When looking for a vacation, folks tend to make plans in the larger, more well known locations. It is so cool to see this small Delaware town recognized nationally as a charming town in the United States that you may not have heard of, but should visit.
The crew over at Oprah Daily put together a list of what they call the 60 Charming American Towns You Haven’t Heard of But Should Visit ASAP. Milton, Delaware earned a spot on the list.
A small Delaware town
Milton is a small town located in Sussex County, the lower part of the state, on the Delmarva Peninsula. It’s located on the Broadkill River. The town is full of small, family owned businesses and restaurants. There are plenty of great fishing spots and Milton is only a short drive to better known locations like Lewes and Rehoboth Beach.
Jimmie Allen
Milton’s most recent claim to fame is being the home of country music singer and songwriter, Jimmie Allen. He was on the 10th season of American Idol before being eliminated prior to voting rounds. Scotty McCreery would go on to win the 10th season.
Dogfish Head Brewing Company
Milton is also the home to the famous Dogfish Head brand.
Dogfish Head Brewery was founded by Sam and Mariah Calagione in Milton Delaware, and since 2019 has been owned by Boston Beer Company.
In addition to the brewery, the brand has several restaurants including Chesapeake & Maine in Rehoboth, two Ale Houses and Brewing & Eats. The brand has expanded to now include the Dogfish Inn, located along the Lewes-Rehoboth canal.
