Two Philadelphia Pizza Places Listed As The Best In The US
Pizza, it’s one of the most popular dishes in the country, arguably the world. It’s quick and easy and perfectly delicious. Nowadays, pizza isn’t always served with the traditional toppings of the past. You’re not just getting a slice with pepperoni and onions, you’re getting top notch ingredients.
Two Philadelphia brands made the list of the best 28 pizza places in the country, released by Food & Wine, and these pizzas are taking the pie to a whole new level.
Pizzeria Vetri tops the list, with four locations in the Philadelphia area. The original location, near the Art Museum, and three others in Rittenhouse Square, King of Prussia and Devon.
If you like Neapolitan pies, this is a must try. Vetri’s Neapolitan pies come with thick, chewy crusts and toppings like prosciutto crudo. My mouth is watering!
According to the restaurant website, Pizzeria Vetri was created to celebrate the art of authentic pizza making. Simple food made exactly the right way, using the best and freshest ingredients, served in a space where all are welcome.
Also making the list of best in the US, is Tacconelli’s Pizzeria in Philadelphia. The Tacconelli’s story started back in 1918 after coming to Philadelphia from Italy. The family was in the bread making business until the war began, and some of the family members were drafted to serve. The business shifted into serving tomato pies, and eventually pizza. Today, still owned by the original family, you’ll find three locations. One in Philadelphia of course, the second in Maple Shade, NJ and a third in Haddon Township, NJ.
This sounds like a must try in in the Philadelphia area.
