Delaware’s Richest Small Town In The State May Surprise You
When you think about Delaware, does wealth come to mind? I think about the Greenville area, The DuPont Family, of course President Joe Biden. But, the richest town here in the First State was a bit surprising to me, not to say I am not a fan of the location.
The crew over at Go Banking Rates put together a list of each of the richest small towns across the United States. To complete their study, GOBankingRates considered income data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The data was analyzed for the locations in each state with 500 to 15,000 households to ultimately determine the riches locations in every state. Every state was included with the exception of Alaska due to lack of data. You can see the full list of state rankings, in order of lowest to highest income here.
So, what did we learn about the First State? Delaware’s richest small town in Hockessin, coming in at 16th out of the 49 richest small towns in each state. According to the study, the median income in Hockessin is $158,036. Not too shabby at all! Actually, that’s more than double the 2022 national US income median of $69,717. Way to go residents of Hockessin. You should be proud.

In Maryland, we have Travilah with a median income of $238,194. New Jersey’s richest small town is Lyons with a median income of $245,226 and Pennsylvania’s is Fox Chapel with their median income of $247,930.
