When I lived in California, Voodoo Donuts was all the rage. They were on TV and everyone went nuts. The shop was never the same again. Every time I went in there it was always busy.
Just last week, we celebrated National Donut Day. Thankfully, our boss (EJ) brought in donuts for everyone so we could celebrate.
We have no shortage of amazing bakeries in our area. Here in Delaware you can visit Serpe and Sons, a longstanding family-run bakery in Elsmere.
Growing up in New Jersey we would always take trips to Aversa's Italian Bakery. I had a friend who worked there in high school. I can still smell the memory of walking in to visit.
Yelp released their list of the Top 100 Best Donut Shops In The US. Unfortunately, no Delaware locations made the list. This comes as a bit of a surprise because I think there are plenty to choose from.
However, it seems that the way they curate this list is by the most reviewed spots in the country. If you're not getting the reviews, you're not getting noticed by them.
While I am still on the hunt for my favorite donut in Delaware, these 2 Pennsylvania Donut Shops Made Yelp's Top 100 List.
Beiler’s Bakery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Yum Yum Bake Shops in Colmar, Pennsylvania are both in the top 40 out of 100.
Looks like we need to take a trip and try them out!

Dunkin recently introduced three new menu items. The donut chain has expanded to coffee and breakfast foods over the years, but the donuts will always be their heart.
According to a press release "The menu items include the Cookie Butter Cold Brew, Cookie Butter Donut, and the Pancake Wake-up Wrap.The fast food and beverage chain will also bring back its Peppermint Mocha Signature Latte, Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte, Holiday Blend Coffee and Cranberry Orange Muffin."
