Due to the wildfires that broke out in Canada this past week, Delaware’s air quality is currently worse than L.A.’s. As seen on Delaware Reddit, a graph shows the areas of poor air quality in the United States. Los Angeles, California is known to have poor air quality due to the region’s warm, sunny climate turning tailpipe and smokestack emissions into smog. The mountain ranges trap the pollution in the air.

The National Weather Service has reported that the fires and smoke coming from Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada has affected the air quality in the east coast of the United States, including Delaware. The thick haze is most noticeable in sunrises and sunsets.

Nova Scotia’s current wildfire is the largest wildfire the country has battled, to date according to BBC. “The fire has burned about 20,000 hectares, with flames reaching nearly 328 feet high.” The fire that has broke out in Halifax is still blazing.

Air quality in Delaware will continue to be poor until the fires are settled and the smoke dissipates.

Make sure your lawnmower is not shooting it's clippings on to the road. Furthermore, in the winter, it's similarly illegal to push your snow into the road or shoot your snowblower into the road.

• Mowing During Early or Late Hours

  If you're going to be noisy, especially on the weekends, make sure you're being respectful of the hours you're mowing or running noisy lawn equipment. People are trying to sleep!

  If your neighbors are out enjoying their patio with company, or they're preparing for a barbecue, maybe hold off on the lawn care. No one wants to scream over each other or worry about a grass leaf getting blown into their drink.
• Spraying Others!

  Be aware of where your sprinklers spray and their distances. Also take into account where you're spraying any chemicals to keep away pests or improve growth. Neighbors may have pets or may not want pesticides in their own garden.

• Not Communicating with Neighbors

  A common solution for doing bigger projects is to express your intentions to your neighbor first. Giving them the heads up eases their wonders and expectations in comparison to not telling them and just going for it.

• Letting Your Pets Out and Not Monitoring Gates

  Keep your gates closed if you have pets. If they get out, there's a potential they could cause harm to others. Also, if you have children, make sure they're not venturing into other yards and disrupting what they have going on.
• Not Respecting Property Lines

  Without proper permission, make sure you're only mowing or tending to your own property. Know your property lines. Because your neighbor may not want you cutting their grass because they like it a certain way. On the other end, you need to make sure you're cutting all of your property and there's no confusion.
