Amber Heard arrives at the Fairfax County Courthouse on May 25, 2022 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Amber Heard is seemingly thriving upon moving to Spain a year after the Virginia defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom actress relocated to the country’s capital of Madrid just a few months after the results of the verdict of the trial were announced. In a new video circulating online, the 37-year-old is seen answering questions from local reporters in fluent Spanish.

“I love Spain so much,” she said in the brief, subtitled TikTok clip. When they asked if she plans on staying, Heard replied, “Yes, I hope so. Yes, I love living here.” Saying goodbye to the people filming her, Heard said, “I hope you are well, ciao. And thank you, nice to meet you.” After being asked if she has movie projects on the horizon, she confirmed that she does, adding, “I move on. That’s life.”

A source told People in April that Heard “couldn’t wait to leave the U.S. with her daughter” after the trial. Heard, who is mom to 2-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige, “has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy,” the source said. They added that the trial was “beyond stressful for her, and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country. She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated. This is all behind her now, though. She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”

Heard’s Vilification

As we previously reported, Heard revealed that she and Depp reached a settlement and dropped their appeals to the Virginia verdict. She wrote in a December statement: “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimized when they come forward.”

“Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to,” Heard continued. “I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward.”

Johnny’s Comeback

Earlier this month, Depp, 59, was applauded as his French-language film Jeanne Du Barry opened the Cannes Film Festival. The actor and musician signed autographs before walking the red carpet and got emotional after the film received a standing ovation after its screening. Of his “comeback,” to Hollywood, Depp said this: “I’ve had about 17 comebacks apparently. I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback’ because I didn’t go anywhere. As a matter of fact, I live about 45 minutes away.”

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Defamation Trial Results: Twitter Reacts

Johnny Depp  won his defamation case against Amber Heard, who was countersuing him in Virginia today, June 1. Depp was awarded $15 million in damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million.

Depp sued Heard for defamation for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Though Depp was not named in the article, he claims it cost him lucrative acting roles. Heard countersued for $100 million, over statements Depp’s attorney made about her abuse claims.

The defamation trial has been underway since April and jurors have heard over 100 hours of testimony altogether.
