Delaware Named One Of The Least Funniest States In America
What gives? We ARE funny!
According to a new study no one really finds us humorous.
Shiny Smile Veneers ranked the funniest states in America and the first state finished near the bottom.
Delaware was ranked as the 42nd funniest state in America. At least we weren’t last place like North Dakota.
So how did Shiny Smile Veneers get to this conclusion?
We analyzed a range of information to create a “funny score” for the 25 most populous U.S. cities and all 50 states to find out which locations have the best senses of humor. Each location was given a score out of 100 based on these factors:
- Residents per comedy club (40 points):
- Residents per comedy festival (30 points)
- Residents per comedy special host city (only for city; 20 points)
- Residents per top comedian’s home state (only for state; 20 points)
- Search volume per city/state (10 points)
Delaware scored a whopping 28 points within the above criteria. North Dakota, the least funniest state scored a 5! So there is really a wide gap.
Massachusetts claimed the top prize of the funniest state in America. The comedy scene in Boston REALLY helps them out here.
But the news isn’t just bad! Philadelphia was ranked as one of the funniest cities in the country.
Philly is the 9th funniest spot in all of America. Boston was 1st in this ranking.
Delaware has some very funny people who are very successful. This should have boosted our score.
Of course Aubrey Plaza is from Wilmington and is one of the most sought after comedic actors. She’s currently killing it on White Lotus and was amazing on Parks and Recreation.
Ryan Phillipe is from Delaware and was in MacGruber. Which was hilarious albeit absolutely absurd.
