Delaware Legalizes Recreational Marijuana Sales and Use
Delaware has just passed a new law, legalizing recreational use of marijuana throughout the first state. The new law allows the sale and use of marijuana for recreational purposes. Medicinal marijuana laws were in place, along with medical dispensaries. Prior to the law being passed, it was only decriminalized to possess smaller amounts of cannabis in Delaware.
With the new law in place, more dispensaries and smoke shops could open up. The law does not allow people to openly use cannabis in public, similar to alcohol and liquor laws. You cannot operate vehicles while under the influence either. You must be 21 to purchase marijuana, similar to cigarettes and alcohol in Delaware.
Nationwide, “nearly $3 billion in retail cannabis taxes were collected in 2022” according to flowhub. Many people have already been familiarized with the use of CBD, which is marijuana with little to no THC or psychoactive elements. The most common uses for CBD were pain, anxiety, sleep, arthritis, and migraines.
