Costco Hot Dogs Have Been $1.50 Since 1985 While Everything Else Has Risen
Tired of rising food prices, gas, rent, and basically everything in life? So are we. But we can always count on one item staying the same price. And that’s Costco hot dogs. The Costco hot dog has been $1.50 since 1985 and the Costco founder Jim Sinegal stated it will always stay the same “forever.” Even since making this statement in 2022, the price has not changed.
Furthermore, the founder even said in a statement, “If you raise the (price of the) effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.” (CNET) Obviously, he’s not going to kill someone. But the importance is there. The hot dog shall be priced the same forever, because it is such a staple to Costco and the Costco brand. Being a wholesale discount food supermarket, the hot dog is a testament to their low prices.
Costco food courts have sold over one billion hot dogs since they opened. And now they even have their own hot dog manufacturing plant.
