Ed Sheeran has seemingly confirmed that we are getting new music this year. One fan reposted the singer-songwriter's Instagram Story early Monday morning (February 27), which consisted of an equals sign drawn into the sand near the shore. As the water rushes over just one of the lines, all that is left is a subtract sign.

The fan wrote excitedly on Twitter: "WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS?! SUBTRACT IS COMING." Sheeran, 32, responded, "Getting excited now?" with a yellow heart emoji.

Back in November, Sheeran was celebrating the success of his song "Shivers," adding that he planned to release his sixth studio album in 2023. He shared to his 42 million Instagram followers: " See you next year for a new album x." He said, “I’m gonna celebrate by shooting a music video for my brand new album, which will be out next year."

Sheeran debuted in 2011 with + (Plus). He followed up in 2014 with x (Multiply), then 2017’s ÷ (Divide) and 2021’s = (Equals).

The musician is currently in Australia, where he just broke the record for the most tickets sold at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, per Billboard. He sold more than 107,000 tickets for his concert this Friday night (March 3). Sheeran shared the success on Instagram as well.
