Miles the Monster has been the mascot of Dover Motor Speedway since 2000.
“Miles the Monster seems cut from the same angular genetic branch as The Thing and The Hulk. His glowing red eyes — a trait shared by other monsters — can be seen from Hwy 1, a half-mile away. The Dover monster is watched by 24-hour security, and protected behind a fence on the days when no one’s around. But this is more out of fear that someone might steal one of the granite plaques, rather than cause any harm to Miles” according to Roadside America.
Miles ran for President of the United States in 2012 but ultimately lost. His slogan was “Concrete Change in 2012.”
Miles circular base contains plaques commemorating every Dover NASCAR winner since 1969 and has room for every winner until the year 2035.
“The monster can be reached by car and is located at the Dover International Speedway on North Dupont Highway. Make a left at the main entrance, then go to the right, and drive around the stadium to the back side” Atlas Obscura says.
NASCAR returns to the Monster Mile for a tripleheader weekend April 28-30. Free shows are provided the entire weekend!
The Amish Outlaws, Dirty Deeds, Party Fowl, and Triple Rail Turn will be providing the free daily entertainment.
Big Bounce America will also be free during NASCAR weekend.
Big Bounce America’s bounce house, 12,000-plus square feet of colors, inflatables and adventure is the world’s largest bounce house. Along with “The Giant,” a 900-foot long course containing more than 50 obstacles to pass through, the Big Bounce America experience will be FREE for race fans before the Sunday, April 30 NASCAR Cup Series race as well as before and after Dover’s Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 races.
