According to BizJournals.Com, A Philadelphia developer is breaking into the Jersey Shore market.
The Brickstone Cos have plans to build $65 million luxury resort on 30 acres of land in Cape May County.
The potential property would be located near Sea Isle City and Avalon, NJ.
President of Brickstone Cos, John Connor Sr, said the property will be a full-service “woodland retreat,” dubbed the “Clermont Lodge”. The location more specifically is being pinned off the intersection of routes 83 and 9 in Cape May Courthouse.
Looking at the site plans, they show a total of 120 overnight accommodations across the property’s 56-room main lodge. Additionally, 40 bungalows and 24 one- and two-bedroom cottages are included.
The approximately 50,000-square-foot main lodge will also feature a restaurant and bar and spa services.
If you’re looking for an event venue, there will be two barns and a playhouse that would double as a chapel for weddings hosted on the property.
To accommodate an active lifestyle, there are plans for pickleball courts, a croquet lawn, walking trails and regular and electric bicycles.
Sounds like a dreamy place!
Planning is still in the early stages. Connor hopes to obtain approval at the Land Use Board meeting on February 23rd
While they haven’t had their hands in shore real estate until now, Brickstone is no stranger to event spaces.
They developed eight Marriott hotels in the region and the Crystal Tea Room in the Wanamaker and Alice Pizza in 1234 Market Street.
With so much development taking place in our area, it has a lot of residents wondering what will it mean for them?
Only time will tell if this will result in more traffic for the area. Off the bat, it seems as though this new venue will be mainly for private events which shouldn’t have too much of an impact on local residents.
