Local Students Will Be Allowed To Sleep In After Super Bowl
It’s all happening 6:30pm, Sunday February 12th. The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs at the StateFarm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
But the big question on everyone’s mind is “When will the Monday after Super Bowl become a national holiday?”
Well, the proposal is being made in the state of Tennessee. So that’s a start.
To make that happen though, the state would have to get rid of another holiday. As a result, the lawmakers are proposing to scrap Columbus Day.
It remains to be seen whether or not this will actually happen. The good news, is some local students will get to sleep in on February 13th which means, so will their parents.
According to CBS News, students at MaST Charter Schools announced they’re giving students the day off Monday calling it a wellness day.
The Wissahickon School District says it’ll start classes two hours later to accommodate students and staff members.
The Upper Merion School District superintendent hopped in on the fun and took to Twitter to make his announcement.
All Gloucester City schools will open two hours late.
The participating districts have recognized this season as a very special time for local families and fans.
Hopefully, more districts and schools will follow suit. Because let’s be honest, whether or not the Eagles win we will be celebrating their 2nd trip to the Big Game in the last 5 years.
The start times of the Super Bowl have varied over the years. Even with kickoff being scheduled for 6:30pm, historically we have waited about 45 minutes for the game to actually start.
Typically there are announcements and formalities that cause the actual kick off to happen almost an hour after the scheduled time.
With Local Students Will Be Allowed To Sleep In After Super Bowl, lets hope that it becomes a trend for more schools and employers.
Football Superstitions Eagles Fans Believe In

First and foremost, GO BIRDS!
It’s no secret that the Philadelphia fan base is one of the most hated in the country. Philadelphia fans have been marked as brutal, crude, uncouth, offensive, and just downright garbage people.
While some have taken things a bit too far, the majority of us enjoy the standard sports trash talk. We enjoy it even more, when the opposing team and fans can take it like a champ and give it right back.
It’s all in good fun.
Personally, I love a bit of smack talk during a game as long as we remain respectful of each other.
That being said, it’s easy to see that this region of fans is die hard.
I’m proud to be a part of a fan base that takes the sport so seriously. I love supporting our Philly teams.
I feel like I’m a part of something bigger than me, when I’m surrounded by Philly fans.
We eat, sleep, breathe and bleed green.
Just like the professional athletes that dedicate their lives to their sport, Philly fans follow certain pre-game rituals.
The thought of not doing things a certain way is enough to send a Philly fan into a frenzy.
I never thought I’d be the kind of person who cares about what coffee mug I drink out of on game-day.
I also never thought I’d be one to turn down an invitation to a friend’s house because it might “jinx the Eagles”. But again, here we are.
Exhibit A:
Football Superstitions Eagles Fans Believe In
Over the years, I’ve been introduced to Philly fans across the country. In my travels, I’ve met fans who were married into, born into it, chose it later in life, etc.
I was surprised to learn that the route they took that led them to being a Philly fan did not matter. They were all participating in some sort of pre-game behavior that they considered to be superstitious or lucky.
We’ve discussed many times on the show, the different superstitions that we believe in.
Deanna and Justin share some of the same thoughts when it comes to behaviors during the football season and on Sundays alone.
According to The Bleacher Report, a lot of NFL players have their own pre-game traditions that have practiced for years.
Take a look at the list we’ve compiled of Football Superstitions Eagles Fans Believe In.
Do you follow any of these superstitious behaviors?
