Deanna And Justin Read To Students At Richey Elementary
Many schools participate in reading week activities. This week, Richey Elementary in Wilmington kicked of their ReadAThon.
Programs like Read Across America , teach students to read and grow together.. They provide 12 months of recommended books, authors, and teaching resources that promote diversity and inclusion.
In most schools, they celebrate a week or a month of reading activities. With certain goals in mind, the students are encouraged to read more, discuss what they read, and broaden their horizons.
The 4th grade class at Richey Elementary ,read a book that sparked conversation about their long term goals. More specifically, they began to discuss their future careers.
Deanna and Justin were invited into their classroom this week to discuss a career in radio.
As expected, the children came prepared with many questions. Deanna and Justin discussed their own personal journey through life that led them to the radio business.
Most of the questions asked were about what it took to get into radio, the difficulties of the job and what it’s like being on the air.
Sure enough, the 4th grade students had some wonderful questions.
Before heading to the 4th grade, Deanna and Justin were welcomed into the 1st grade classroom. There, they both read a story to the class.
Their teacher had chosen a few for Deanna and Justin to look through. It was a wonderful storytime experience. Below you can see photos of Deanna and Justin reading their books to the class.
Needless to say, it was an honor to be invited into the school. Deanna and Justin enjoyed their time with each class and were honored to be asked to appear.
