Salma Hayek attends the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 10, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California. Channing Tatum poses for a photo before he signs copies of his new children's book "The One and Only Sparkella Makes A Plan" at Barnes & Noble at The Grove on June 01, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

Salma Hayek’s steamy lap dance scene with Channing Tatum could have been deadly. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Hayek, 56, told the host that the scene in Magic Mike’s Last Dance went horribly wrong.

The lap dance scene sees Hayek flipped upside down while Tatum, 42, holds onto her pants. “You know, there’s one part that’s not in [the film] where I’m upside down and my legs had to be somewhere,” Hayek said on Tuesday’s (January 31) episode. “But upside down, one loses sense of direction, and I didn’t do what I was supposed to do. So in the rehearsal, I went like, head down, almost hit my head.”

The Frida star started to worry about a wardrobe malfunction, and that’s when things took a turn for the worst. “[Channing] held on to my pants, but I was really concerned because my pants were going away, and I couldn’t remember if I had underwear or not in this moment,” Hayek shared. “So, instead of putting my hands to protect my head, I just held onto the pants. He’s like, ‘Put your hands up,’ and I’m like, ‘No, no, no, no.'”

“Everybody came in and kind of took me away from him, and he said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ I said, ‘What’s wrong with me? You nearly killed me!’” Hayek exclaimed.

Hayek has previously admitted to Entertainment Tonight that the lap dance scene was “very physically challenging.” She added, “My goodness. You just wait to see. It’s just complicated.”

However, Hayek gave Tatum plenty of praise for his dancing skills. “If you thought he could dance [before], you are going to realize you haven’t seen anything,” she told People in August. “His dance skills — he just got better,” she added.

In the third and final installment of the Magic Mike franchise, Tatum’s Mike Lane is left bartending in Florida after a failed business deal. He hooks up with a wealthy socialite (Hayek) who takes him to London with an offer to headline a dance show. Magic Mike’s Last Dance is set to hit theaters on Friday, February 10.

Channing Tatum Confirms ‘Magic Mike 3:’ Fans React on Twitter

Channing Tatum announced on Twitter yesterday (November 29) that Mike Lane will be back in the forthcoming Magic Mike 3.

“Well world, looks like Mike Lane’s tapping back in,” Channing wrote, tagging HBO Max with a photo of the script which reads the film’s official title: “Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Written by Reid Carolin. Directed by Steven Soderbergh.”

“Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike?” Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance and humor.”

The movie announcement comes just weeks before HBO Max is set to premiere a reality competition series titled Finding Magic Mike. Kicking off Dec. 16, the series follows 10 men who have “lost their magic” but quickly learn new dance routines in hopes of earning a spot on the Magic Mike Live stage in Las Vegas. The first two Magic Mike films were so successful that they helped launch a Vegas stage show, with a national tour coming in 2022.

“There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max,” Channing previously shared. “The stripperverse will never be the same.”

The original 2012 Magic Mike film featured Channing as the titular character, a seasoned male stripper who teaches younger performer Adam (Alex Pettyfer) how to make easy money. Magic Mike XXL followed in 2015, grossing nearly $300 million worldwide for the first two films.

Fans celebrated the announcement by sharing who they would like to see dance alongside Tatum, and boy, are they on to something.
