Time to fly! Avelo launches its first Wilmington flight this week!
“On February 1st, the less-than-a-year-old American low-cost carrier Avelo Air will open its brand new base at Delaware’s Wilmington Airport (ILG). This is not to be confused with Wilmington International Airport (ILM)” according to Simple Flying.
Avelo has said that it has seen a strong trend in new bookings from it’s new Delaware base.
In the first phase travelers will be able to fly to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.
Guests can fly from ILG to Ft. Lauderdale on Thursdays and Sundays, to Fort Meyers on Mondays and Fridays, to Orlando on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, to Tampa on Thursdays and Sundays, and to West Palm Beach on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
“At first, Avelo will base one Boeing 737-800 Next-Generation (NG) at Wilmington. The opening of the new base has also translated into new job opportunities. Notably, Avelo has opened 35 new positions at Wilmington, including Airport Customer Service, Aircraft Technical Operations and Maintenance, flight attendants, pilots, and supervisors” Simply Flying said.
Avelo hopes convenience will drive passengers to consider their new base over big airports. Located between Philly and Baltimore the airport could be a little calmer.
Wilmington represents the latest addition to the four already existing Avelo bases at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
Avelo is a little over a year old and is an economy airline with their missions statement saying: We help you fly for less so you can fly more. That means more opportunities for you to connect with family and friends while exploring new places and revisiting old favorites. But we don’t just save you money. We fly out of smaller, more convenient airports, so we also save you time and hassle.
