Greene Turtle Has Reopened In Newark
A Delaware and Maryland restaurant scene staple the Greene Turtle has reopened in Newark.
The new location is just a few minutes from it’s old Green Turtle location in Newark.
The new digs are located at 211 S. Main St. in the Park and Shop mixed-use center.
The grand re-opening was held on January 27th.
“In 1981, college buddies Steve Pappas and Tommy Dickerson bought Ocean City English-style pub, The Greene Turtle, and transformed it into a beloved sports bar. In 1986, with the help of another college buddy, Billy Packo, owners Pappas and Dickerson opened a Greene Turtle in Baltimore’s popular Fells Point neighborhood. In 2022 a rapid expansion of the franchise led to 30 more Mid-Atlantic locations opening their doors” according to their website.
The Green Turtle mascot was onsite for the grand opening and guests were treated to tons of stuff. The first 50 guests in line received goodie bags.
According to Patch “The Greene Turtle will close out the festivities by giving away six suite tickets to enjoy a NBA Game at Captital One Arena this season. Guests must register in-person for the raffle, but don’t have to be present to win. Raffles and prizes will be given out to all guests between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
The Green Turtle remains community oriented. Non-profits, sports teams and leagues, civic associations and clubs, schools, and related programs can all use their locations for fundraising events.
Funds 4 Friends partners invite their constituents, members, family and friends to The Greene Turtle to dine and help fundraise on their behalf. Partner organization receives 20% of net sales.
Community organizations can also co-brand Greene Turtle Gear with their logo! All revenue from apparel, t-shirts, and hoodies sales stays with that community group.
