Delaware’s Best Chocolate Cake Is In Newark

Another day, another national holiday!  There really is a day for everything.  Today (January 27th) we celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day, as noted by National Calendar Day.

Now, this is a holiday I can get behind.  A nice slice of chocolate cake with a glass of milk, sign me up.  But where is the best place to go?

Lucky for us, the folks over at EatThis.com went on a search for the best chocolate cake in every state across the US.  So, who takes the cake in Delaware? Bing’s Bakery in Newark.  Here’s what EatThis.com had to say about the Newark Bakery.

Locals in Newark know that Bing’s Bakery is known for consistently delicious desserts.  The Chocolate Mocha Torte is no exception. Four layers of moist chocolate cake are sandwiched between their homemade mocha buttercream. Delicious!

Delaware’s longest running bakery, has been proudly serving customers since 1871.

Bing’s Bakery has been running year after year since 1871 when it was originally called Fader’s Bakery.  Gotleib Fader, founded and delivered baked goods in a horse-drawn wagon, and sold from their home’s storefront.  Russell and Selena Bing purchased the bakery from the Fader’s in 1946 and changed the name to Bing’s Bakery.  In 2005, head baker Tom Guzzi and his wife, Carla, purchased Bing’s Bakery and they continue to produce quality baked goods.

10 Best Places For Bagels In Wilmington

10 Best Places For Bagels In Wilmington

What’s better than a fresh bagel with a cup of coffee to get your morning started?   Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.   Sandwich bagels, pizza bagels, lox and cream cheese, just butter, there are endless options when it comes to topping them off.  And don’t even get me started on all the different types of bagels and all the flavors of cream cheese.  So many to choose from.

National Calendar Day says that Sunday, January 15th is National Bagel Day.  To give you a little history, they go on to say that Polish-Jewish immigrants introduced the bagel to the United States. Throughout New York City and the surrounding boroughs, they grew thriving businesses.  This is still true today.  Some say no bagels are better than a New York Bagel.  I think it has something to do with the water there.

So, naturally with National Bagel Day only a few days away, we wanted to know where to best places to grab a bagel are in Wilmington.  To do this, we took to the drew over at YELP, who determined this based on user reviews.

Here are the 10 best places for bagels in Wilmington for National Bagel Day
