St. Mark’s Has Received A $1 Million Donation
The giving season is here and St. Mark’s has received a $1 million donation from one of their alumna.
St. Mark’s High School was pleased to receive a large donation from Paul McConnell and his wife Linda Rowe McConnell recently.
The two have committed $1 million to the school’s Renewing the Vision Capital Campaign.
According to a press release “The McConnell’s gift will fully fund a new robotics lab/makerspace, as well as a multipurpose media and broadcast studio.
Construction for both areas is slated to begin in the coming months and will be completed for the 2023-24 school year. Their donation
will also support a tuition assistance program for local students with financial need. ”
According to St. Mark’s this is just another gift in a long line of recent alumni donations. The school’s Renewing the Vision Capital Campaign has seen donations almost double in the last three years.
The gift will have an immediate impact on the school. “The addition of the robotics lab/makerspace will enhance and expand our curriculum and extracurricular activities
related to engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, computer programming and more. The space will be designed to inspire
students to think critically and to work collaboratively” a press release says.
The gift will also go towards a media and broadcast studio where students be able to immerse themselves into the fields of broadcast journalism and video production using
state-of-the-art equipment to produce highly innovative news broadcasts, podcasts, presentations and more.
St. Mark’s School’s go is to serve as the premier center for education and ministry within the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington and to inspire young people to make the world a better place, one more pleasing to God and more helpful to others.
