Rehoboth Pastry Chef Wins Food Network Competition
Rehoboth Pastry Chef Wins Food Network Competition.
Admittedly, we’ve got a lot to be proud of here in Delaware. Our first state has claimed many talented and famous actors and actresses. The president resides here. We’re a hop, skip and a jump from some of the best sports in America. And now this!
First, our friend Joe Daigle won $10,000 on Food Network’s Gingerbread Showdown. Joe came in to speak to Deanna & Justin about the competition. Listen below to his interview. Little did we know when he came to the studios, that he would end up being the champion of Gingerbread!
No sooner did we have several other very talented locals enter the Holiday baking championship. The finale aired on Monday, Dec. 19. The competition would feature baker’s choice on country themes.
Dru Tevis of Rehoboth won with his Swiss Alp Cake.
It was an ombre blue cake that resembled mountains with trees decorated on the facade.
Dru is the director of the pasty program for SoDel Concepts in Rehoboth. While there were plenty of other really competitive bakers there who entered with fascinating creations, Dru took home the $25,000 prize and title.

At Thomson Island Brewing Co in Rehoboth, Dru’s family and friends cheered him on as they watched the finale.
According to Delaware Live, Dru was relieved that the whole ordeal was finally over. He mentioned how difficult it had been to keep this a secret having known the results ahead of time.
We found that many folks in the area know Dru as a kinda hearted guy. We’ve since learned “Dru-nicorn” is his nickname. The name was created while he was on the show and apparently it fits. Dru is attributed to being a big hearted friend to many.
He started his career in 2009 and it’s taken off since. Congratulations Dru! Delaware is very proud of your accomplishments!
