WJBR Street Teamer Competing for Miss America 2023 Wins $5000 Scholarship Award
Grace Otley, Miss Delaware 2023, is currently competing for the title of Miss America 2023 in Mohegan Sun, Connecticut this week. Grace Otley has been a street team member of Mix 99.5 WJBR since the age of around 14 years old. Grace had won the Miss Delaware title in the summer of 2022.
With her social impact initiative, “Adopt A New Mindset: Adoption Advocacy and Advancement” Grace has started the movement to destigmatize adoption in America and to help create a more welcoming environment for adoptees, adoptive parents, and birth parents. Grace will continue to help fund adoptions, lower the cost of adoptions, and provide services to people struggling in the adoption triad. As Miss Delaware, she has partnered with local adoption and foster agencies, such as Cayuga Centers, the Murphy School, Adoptions from the Heart, and State of Delaware Social Services. Grace is the first ever Asian American Adoptee to lead the Social Impact Initiative around Adoption in the Miss America Scholarship Organization.
On Monday night, December 12th, Grace performed an electric violin rendition of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal as you can see below in the Instagram post.
On Tuesday, December 13th, Miss Delaware Grace Otley gave her Social Impact Initiative Speech and showed off her evening gown as you can see below.
Today, December 14th, 2022 Grace Otley received a $5,000 ‘Forever Miss America Scholarship Award’. Thursday night, December 15th, the Top 11 contestants will be chosen and ultimately the new Miss America 2023 titleholder.
