Delaware Family Caught Harper’s Game 3 Home Run Ball
There’s no doubt about it, the Philadelphia Phillies are on fire. The energy that has been passing through Citizen’s Bank Park has been electric. This is especially true for one Delaware Family who caught Bryce Harper’s Game 3 home run ball.
Andy Hartstein from Laurel, Delaware and his 9 year old son Hudson were at the game on Tuesday night.
According to 6abc, Hartstein said “Literally off the bat, I knew it was coming directly to us. It was that moment of, ‘Wow is this really happening?”
This event was especially noteworthy for the family because according to Andy, it was the first home run he’s ever seen in person. On top of it being a memorable moment to begin with, they caught the ball and have this story to tell.
It wasn’t just any home run, it was Bryce Harper’s two-run blast in the first inning of Game 3.
The Phillies’ five home runs tied a World Series record and broke another one.
The Phillies are the first team in history to hit five home runs in the first five innings of a World Series game.
While Game 4 did not prove to be nearly as exciting, the whole tri-state area is still on an adrenaline high and ready for Game 5.
The offer came in for the coveted ball. It was about $3500. The true internal debate that would one go through is take the money or don’t?
After much careful deliberation, Andy decided that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was not about to hand it over for a measly $3,000. You can’t put a price on a memory like that.
Andy said he decided quickly that he was going to keep the ball; “We will tell this story forever. He will tell his kids and I will tell my grandkids,”
We think they made the right decision!
