Which Photo Taking Strategy Do You Use?
Deanna & Justin had a discussion about the way people takes photos of each other.
Deanna went to a wedding over the weekend where she took a photo of her friends.
Putting thought into the pose placement and angle; she had them step to the side, cover a sign on the wall and hold it for 8 clicks.
Then, those same friends took a photo of Deanna and her husband Jacob. They handed the phone back saying “Here, we took a few”. Excited to sift through the photos of her and her husband all dressed up, Deanna opened the photos. Much to her dismay, the photos were not as good as the ones she took of her friends.
Their feet were cut off, the odd sign in the background was showing, there was a drink on the step, it was not what Deanna expected.
Instead of asking them to take more, Deanna accepted the photos and let it be.
This story prompted Deanna & Justin to discuss how they each attempt to take photos for people when asked to do so.
Deanna takes the phone, makes sure there’s nothing awful in the background then takes a series of photos. The first two are from eye level, the 2nd two are from higher up, and 3rd two are from a lower angle looking up. Then, she puts the phone on portrait mode and takes two more in landscape.
Justin does what he calls the “Pop, Lock & Drop”. He takes two photos up high, two in the middle, and two down lower.
Hollywood Kyle just rapid fire clicks as he moves further away or closer to his subject.
